2020, een jaar om nooit/snel te vergeten (schrappen wat niet past). Afgelaste festivals, Iron Maiden dat zijn festivalshow omboekt naar een zaalshow, binnen moeten blijven, binnen werken, binnen studeren, Kerst met de familie afgelast … Het jaar heeft er bij veel mensen emotioneel en financieel zwaar op ingehakt. 2020 doet ons met zijn allen uitkijken naar een spuit alsof we allen heroïneverslaafden zijn. De afgelopen maanden hebben ons doen beseffen hoe ontzettend lomp onze medemens kan zijn (hoe moeilijk kan het zijn om een mondmasker correct te dragen?).

2020 zal geheel terecht de annalen ingaan als een onvervalst annus horribilis. Een klote- en kutjaar. Met dank aan de reboot van de Pest.

En toch zijn er lichtpuntjes. We mogen er trots op zijn dat we met onze gezamenlijke inspanningen een overspoeling van de ziekenhuizen hebben voorkomen, dat onze doden niet in een ijsbaan opgeslagen werden en de mensen niet op de gang van het ziekenhuis stierven. Dat we de golf al meermaals hebben bedwongen in moeilijke tijden.

Zelfs in deze moelijke tijden blijven er gelukkig zekerheden: de Amped Up-eindejaarslijst staat als een vuurtoren en zal alle golven het hoofd bieden.
